Pantone’s Very Peri was created for its Color of the Year 2022.

Pantone has named Very Peri (Pantone 17-3938) as its Color of the Year 2022, a dynamic periwinkle blue with violet red undertones. It is also the first time Pantone has created a new color for its Color of the Year program.

Pantone chose Very Peri as a symbol of these transformative times as people emerge from isolation and physical and digital lives merge in new ways.

“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director, Pantone Color Institute. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”

“Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational color program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place,” adds Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication and as a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red-violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lie before us.”

In home décor and interior design, Very Peri injects a sense of playful freshness into home interiors, Pantone says, enlivening a space through unusual color combinations. Its versatility makes it suitable to a range of different materials, textures and finishes, and whether used on a painted wall, in home décor, or as an eye-catching accent in a pattern, Very Peri adds a pop of color.

Pantone announced the Color of the Year 2022 at ARTECHOUSE New York, located in a 100-year-old boiler room beneath the Chelsea Market in Manhattan. ARTECHOUSE will open an exhibition of Very Peri to the public next year.
