IHGF Delhi Fair draws buyers from 92 countries

New Delhi – The 53rd edition of the IHGF Delhi Fair wrapped on April 2 with thousands of exhibitors and buyers.

The biannual expo drew more than 4,850 buyers and buying representatives from 92 countries and hosted 2,596 exhibitors. Buyers attended from the U.S., UK, Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

The Ajai Shankar and P N Suri Memorial Awards for Best Design Display were given in the major six product categories:

Home Textiles, Furnishings and Floor Coverings: Ayush Behal of Alpha Corporation, Ludhiana (Gold) and Chirag and Sanya Parnami of Seen Unseen, Jaipur (Silver)

Houseware, Tableware, Kitchenware and Hotelware: Karan Kapoor of Adharv International, Moradabad (Gold) and Devendra Ahlawat of Destiny Creations Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi (Silver)

Furniture, Furniture Hardware & Accessories: Rahul and Deepak Bhardwaj of R R Overseas, Moradabad (Gold) and Aman Mehta of Lariya Art Palace Pvt. Ltd., Jodhpur (Silver)

Christmas Decoratives and Festive Décor: Simran Singh Sachdev of Simran Export Inc., New Delhi (Gold) and Om Prakash Gupta of The Surya Exports, New Delhi (Silver)

Lamps, Lighting and Accessories: Danish of Citicrafts Corporation, Moradabad (Gold) and Abdullah Hussain of M/s RH Collection India, Moradabad (Silver)

Fashion Jewellery & Accessories: Kuldeep Singh of DWS Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., Jaipur (Gold) and Devan Patodia of Patodia Organics LLP, Kolkata (Silver)

In addition, a special category award for Sustainable Crafts was given to Birendra Kumar Bengani of Bonafide Exports, Jodhpur.

Sustainability was a big trend at the show, with eco-friendly and compliant ranges offered across a variety of home and lifestyle products.

“Today, while many established players (manufacturers/exporters) in India have taken decisive steps to be socially as well as environmentally responsible and compliant, and are certified, there are many artisans and manufacturers at the grassroots level whose business model is essentially centered on sustainability,” said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, director general of show organizer EPCH (Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts) and chairman of IEML (India Exposition Mart Ltd.)

Dates for the fall edition of the fair are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
