Heimtextil cancelled, announces possible Plan B

Frankfurt, Germany – With another wave of Covid-19 surging in Germany and other parts of the world, the organizer of the Heimtextil international home textiles fair is shifting gears.

This morning (U.S. time), Messe Frankfurt announced that the January show has been cancelled. The expo organization said it will work with members of the industry to determine whether a version of Heimtextil can be held in June in tandem with the Techtextil/Texprocess trade fairs.

Messe Frankfurt noted that Germany has been classified as a high-risk area. In addition, there are associated travel warnings and international and intercontinental travel restrictions in India, Japan, the United States and Great Britain, as well as a quarantine obligation.

“A large number of the exhibiting and visiting companies at Heimtextil are currently reacting to this with travel and trade fair attendance bans out of an obligation of concern towards their employees to protect them from health risks. The global willingness to travel is continuing to fall rapidly,” Messe Frankfurt said.

For the time being, Messe Frankfurt’s other spring fairs in late January and mid-February are still a go. They include Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld and Paperworld.
