Interior designer Melissa Sanabria has opened a shop on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Located at 409 East Capitol Street SE, Sanabria & Co. offers everything from beeswax candles, throw pillows, local honey and home fragrances to one-of-a-kind vintage rugs.

Sanabria, principal and founder of interior design studio Sanabria & Co., is known for blending the old with the new and designing spaces that are truly family-friendly while honoring a home’s architecture. She selected many of the stores’ brands as “Partners with Purpose,” each being a small business that represents an important cause including eco-friendly and cruelty free items, naturally-sourced products, women-owned companies and those with strong charitable components. Such brands include Apotheke, Cultiver, Heddle & Lamm, Jaipur Living, Freres Branchiaux, Fair + Simple, Passerine, Poppy & Pout, Sunday Candle Co., Second Story Honey and Jungle & Loom.

“Sanabria & Co. The Shop is a much-needed addition to the Capitol Hill neighborhood,” said Sanabria. “We’ve all been doing so much online shopping, I wanted to create a place where people can experience the merchandise, connect, and get inspired.”

Sanabria’s vision for her new store was to create a place to connect with the community in new and different ways. She plans to host workshops, trunk shows, and feature local makers and artists.
