York Wallcoverings 2023 Color of the Year promotes positive energy

YORK, Penn. — York Wallcoverings, the largest and oldest wallcoverings producer in the U.S., has announced its 2023 Color of the Year: Amber. The color signifies a shift toward spaces that promote positive energy, as well as the continued rise of natural inspirations into today’s homes.

“An organic gemstone made from tree resin, Amber is often associated with absorbing negative energy and releasing bright, soothing energy. When Amber catches the light, it emanates a sense of renewal, energy, and power. With a lot of uncertainty in the world around us, we think that a color that is emblematic of comfort and positive energy around the home is important,” said Carol Miller, trend and color expert for York Wallcoverings.

“And strictly speaking, as a color, Amber is really versatile. As a hero color, it is rich like luscious honey; when paired with bolder colors, it quickly becomes a warm neutral. It’s found across design aesthetics–think traditional style with Old Master paintings, or contemporary style with oxidized metals. It really is a color that can be embraced no matter one’s personal taste.”

To demonstrate Amber’s aesthetic merits, York has released a 2023 Color Trends Palette, “Elements.” The selection of hues provides recommendations that pair with Amber and one another, with the colors inspired by – and diverse as – the planet itself.
