HIGH POINT – Universal Furniture has brought on Jim Roberts as the company’s new vice president of sales for the West region.

Roberts will focus on developing relationships with the retail and design communities and championing sales growth in the western U.S. He joins the current vice president of sales for the East region, A.J. Filloy.

Roberts has worked extensively in the mattress industry, most recently with Serta Simmons Bedding as senior vice president of sales. He has also worked at BekaertDeslee and Nomaco Home Furnishings as the vice president of sales for both companies.

He first joined the furniture industry while in college, selling furniture, rugs and bedding at Rich’s Department Store, which later became Macy’s. Roberts continued working with the company after college, assuming the role of assistant buyer.

“One of our goals at Universal Furniture is to put the right people in the right positions in order to guarantee their success and the success of the company,” said Universal Furniture President Sean O’Connor. “Jim is a perfect fit for our growing company, thanks to his long tenure in the furniture industry, a dedication to excellence and appetite for adventure.”
