Minneapolis – Target’s latest executive hire is tasked with helping to bring a holistic view to the company’s overall product strategy.
Prat Vemana will join the company’s leadership team Oct. 31 as chief digital and product officer, reporting to chief guest experience officer Cara Sylvester.
Vemana will oversee Target’s digital business, including site merchandising, user experience, digital operations and product, and Target+, the retailer’s growing online third-party marketplace. In addition, he will provide key support for Target’s product teams across the company in order to create a consistent customer experience across every touchpoint.
Digital currently accounts for 20% of Target’s business and is considered a chief growth driver.
“[O]ur digital business plays an increasingly outsized role in bringing that to life for the millions of people who regularly visit our stores, website and app,” said Sylvester.
Vemana joins Target from Kaiser Permanente, where he served as senior vice president and chief digital officer and led its enterprise product management and experience teams. Prior to that post, he held digital leadership positions at The Home Depot and Staples.
