Modern furniture retailer Scandinavian Designs held a grand opening for its first East Coast showroom on Dec. 12.

BOISE, Idaho — Modern and contemporary furniture retailer Scandinavian Designs opened its first East Coast showroom earlier this month in Waldorf, Md.

The Boise, Idaho-based retailer has 44 showrooms across 14 states. Prior to opening in Maryland, its easternmost store was in Indianapolis.

“We’re a well-established brand in the West, and we’re thrilled to open our first physical location on the East Coast,” said Edward Gerard, Scandinavian Designs’ chief operating officer. “We have maintained an East Coast warehouse to support our Midwest stores, and we always anticipated future expansion into that region as well. Waldorf is perfectly situated to serve not just the D.C. metro area, but also as a springboard to reach the entire Northeast, where our online sales are already strong.”

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the 28,487-square-foot showroom, located at 11055 Mall Circle on Dec. 12. The event was attended by community leaders and members of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.

“Congratulations Scandinavian Designs for making Charles County your home. We are honored that you’ve chosen Waldorf as the location of your new store. We are excited to have you as part of our community,” said Thomasina Coates, Charles County commissioner. “The store is beautiful.”

Scandinavian Designs is a contemporary home furnishings destination rooted in a love for Nordic culture, modern design and quality craftsmanship. Top product categories include living room, dining room, bedroom, outdoor furniture, a modern line of office furnishings and a wide assortment of accessories and décor.
