Home décor dollars on NPD’s radar

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — Market research firm The NPD Group is now tracking home décor.

The company, which has tracked several other home furnishings categories as well as retail for many years, has turned its attention to art and wall décor, artificial plants and dried flowers, decorative accessories, mirrors, clocks and candles. Its Checkout receipt-based service tracked home décor sales for over a year and captured more than 890,000 receipts for the home décor products industry since January 2019, the company said.

In addition to total market omnichannel sales tracking, the recently launched home décor service offers buyer analytics, recontact surveys (attitudes and usage), and client-specific segmentation.

Editor-in-Chief Allison Zisko first joined HFN in 1998 and spent many years covering the tabletop category before widening her scope to all home furnishings. In her current role, she oversees all aspects of HFN, including its print and digital products, and represents the brand at home and abroad through presentations, panel discussions and HFN’s podcast, The Inside Scoop.
