Events back in full force at the High Point Market
HIGH POINT – After a scarcity of events at recent Markets due to the pandemic, the event calendar at this weekend’s High Point Market is overflowing with activities.
The Style Spotters have several events planned for during Market. Every morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. attendees can enjoy a personal trip through showrooms with two of the 2022 Style Spotters. The event starts at The Point on Commerce Ave. near the Transportation Terminal.
Universal Furniture is also holding several educational events. Every morning from 9-10 a.m. a guest speaker will share topics of interest. On Sat. Apr.2, interior designers can learn about how to charge flat fees and protect profit from business coach Melissa Galt. She will share how to set up a square-foot fee structure and other proven fee structures. Then, on Sun. Apr. 3, coach Gail Doby will share her thoughts on how to build an amazing team in a competitive market. And on Mon. Apr. 4, the team from Cylindo will discuss augmented reality usage in the furniture industry. Sessions will be held at the Universal Furniture showroom at 101 S. Hamilton St.
The hot topic of sustainability will be a focus this Market. On Fri. Apr. 1, Culp is hosting the Sustainable Furnishings Council’s 15th anniversary celebration in the new Culp Innovation Center at Congdon Yards from 5 – 8 p.m. Then, on Sat. Apr. 3, from 10-11 a.m., attendees can join Nancy Fire as she moderates a discussion about sustainable shopping at the Market with a team of presenters. The event will be held at the Point on Commerce Ave.
Market attendees can also check out several book signing events including one on Sat. Apr. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Antique and Design Center where Aldrous Bertram will sign copies of his book “Dragons & Pagodas – A celebration of Chinoiserie.” Then, from 2-4 p.m. attendees will be able to celebrate author Frederick Raynor’s new book, “On First Looking: A Journey into the World of Home Furnishings” at the IHFC, Design Center D-220. Then, on Sun. Apr. 3, Ken Pursley of Pursley Dixon Architecture will sign copies of his book, “Finding the Houses of Pursely Dixon” at Highland House Furniture, 200 Steele, 121. Then, on Mon. Apr. 4, attendees can meet author Christa O’Leary as she signs copies of her book, “Home in Harmony – Designing an Inspired Life” in the Suites at Market Square T-922.
WithIt (Women in the Home Industry Today) is also planning several events this Market. On Sat. Apr. 2, the organization will celebrate its silver anniversary with an event from 6-9 p.m. at the Lofts at Congdon Yards at 400 W. English Road. Then, on Mon. Apr. 4, business and leadership coach Ginna Christensen will chat with women leaders to find out what helps them to succeed. The event will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. at the IHFC, Green Wing, International Balloon on the 11th floor.
