Copy of Home improvement retailer turns decorator with new vacation rental collaboration

ATLANTA — The Home Depot has teamed with online vacation home marketplace Vrbo on a rental makeover that allows vacationers to experience many of the home improvement retailer’s furnishings first-hand.

To achieve the designer look within the home, Home Depot partnered with design-focused influencers Holly and Brad Lauritzen of Our Faux Farmhouse in Austin, Texas; Fariha Nasir of Pennies for a Fortune in Cypress, Texas; and Orange County, Calif.-based Danielle Guerrero of Our Nest on Powell to re-imagine home’s living spaces.

The four-bedroom, six-bath home, situated on Laurel Lake in The Berkshires in Lee, Mass., features several of Home Depot’s exclusive brands including the Home Decorators Collection of bathroom furniture, flooring, ceiling fans and window treatments; StyleWell home décor, which runs the gamut from beds and patio furniture to home accents; and The Company Store, known for its down comforters, pillows and bedding.

Using the products found at The Home Depot or homedepot.com, the designers keyed in on themes such as timeless décor by combining contemporary furniture with vintage-inspired wallpaper and lighting, and functional and cozy living through additions such as the kitchen coffee bar and the use of comfortable textiles throughout the home.

Products were selected to both enhance the guest experience and accommodate the kind of usage numerous visits to a vacation rental typically receive.

“Making upgrades to any home or rental property with furniture, wall art, wallpaper and textiles can truly change its personality without the need for major renovation,” said Corinne Bentzen, general manager for The Home Depot Home.

Using the Berkshires home as the back drop, she said, “We’re excited to showcase just how impactful these easy and attainable updates — from fresh bedding and throws to functional seating — can be for travelers and property owners.”

Influencer Fariha Nasir designed one of the home’s four bedrooms.

The living room, designed by the Lauritzens, features a three-seat sofa beige sofa with rounded arms, a set of casual armchairs with wooden arms and legs, a large round wood coffee table and plenty of accent pillows and throws in neutral tones of gray, cream and beige.

The couple also redecorated the pantry, dining room, reading nook, primary bedroom, powder room and patio.

Pattern comes into play in Nasir’s guest bedroom makeover that is anchored by Arts & Crafts style wallpaper from York. Accents of gold, olive blue and gray, including a retro-styled gray striped chair, a gray and olive area rug and an arched gold mirror, complement the metal-frame upholstered bed. For textiles, the room features Company Store Egyptian cotton linens in white, a navy and white stripe cotton throw and another in waffle weave dark taupe.

Nasir’s influence is also found in the twin and balcony bedrooms.

Guerrero took on the morning kitchen, front porch, entry foyer, sauna and the roof-top deck. The latter includes a fire pit, wicker outdoor furniture with two swivel chairs featuring ash gray Sunbrella cushions, faux greenery and patterned accent pillows in outdoor-friendly fabrics.

Among the spaces redecorated using Home Depot products was the roof-top deck.

As the background palette for the furniture and furnishings, the home features Blank Canvas — Behr’s 2023 Color of the Year — as the wall color for the common areas. The soft white with a warm undertone works with the predominantly neutral shades used in the furnishings as well as the occasional pops of color in the space.

Rental costs for the property, which is privately owned, vary by date and availability.
