Union, N.J. – Bed Bath & Beyond announced the resignation of an EVP who was recruited into the company as former president and CEO Mark Tritton was building his leadership team in 2020.

Rafeh Masood, executive vice president, chief customer & technology officer, will resign effective Dec. 2.

“Mr. Masood’s resignation was not the result of any disagreement with the company on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices or financial statements,” Bed Bath & Beyond stated in its SEC filing about the matter.

Masood joined Bed Bath in May 2020. He had been senior vice president, chief digital officer at BJ’s Wholesale Club following earlier strategic positions at Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sears Holdings.

He was part of a group of new executives hired in during spring 2020. Others included former EVP/CFO Gustavo Arnal, who died by suicide in September, as well as former chief merchant Joe Hartsig, who stepped down following Tritton’s ouster in June, and former COO John Hartman, who left the company in August.

Last week, Bed Bath & Beyond named Sue Gove as its permanent president and CEO. A member of the corporate board of directors, she had been serving as interim CEO since June 28.
