Amazon taps social media trends with new in-app shopping feature

Amazon has unveiled an in-app feature called Inspire that sends a personalized feed with photo and video content based on a shopper’s interests, as reported in Retail Dive and other media outlets.

Products featured in photos and videos are tagged on screen; the user can tap the product to learn more about it, access reviews and add the item to their cart.

The feature rolled out to select U.S. customers earlier this month and will be more widely available in the coming months, Amazon said.

Influencers enrolled in the Amazon Influencer program who have photos and videos posted to their Influencer storefront are eligible to appear in Inspire, and vendors or sellers enrolled in Brand Registry with an active Brand Store with qualified photos posted to Brand Posts are also eligible, according to Amazon.

Editor-in-Chief Allison Zisko first joined HFN in 1998 and spent many years covering the tabletop category before widening her scope to all home furnishings. In her current role, she oversees all aspects of HFN, including its print and digital products, and represents the brand at home and abroad through presentations, panel discussions and HFN’s podcast, The Inside Scoop.
