One of the most promising trends of this winter are curves. Some options include adding curvy wallpaper, creating an arched doorway or adding some fun and lively piece of furniture such as a curved desk.

LIVERPOOL, U.K. – The interior design experts at British wallpaper company Hovia have come up with several trend predictions for 2023.

In the upcoming season the focus will be all on chandeliers and lamps, according to the company. There is no wrong way to choose a pendant, however what is predicted to be on-trend this winter are oversized and noticeable lighting.

For consumers planning to repaint walls and furniture, Hovia suggests going in one of two directions: natural colors to embrace the calm vibe of earth tones or, for a pop of color, “stay within the safe lines of mellow and tranquil blues and greens, with an addition of soft pinks and lavender.”

The Hovia experts said this prediction is backed by its latest sales data regarding the most popular colors chosen by shoppers on its website. This shows how buyers started purchasing these specific colors already during this year, strengthening the idea that greens, blues and natural colors have been and will be on trend.

Having a multifunctional home is going to be big in 2023 with additions such as movie and game rooms, gyms and saunas. “To set up such a room might not be as expensive as expected, all you need is a spare room and either some gym equipment, a projector and a sofa, or a gaming console, all things that are easy to find for a family home,”  the company said.

Straight lines and geometry are out, curves and movement in are in, according to Hovia. One of the most promising trends of this winter is rounded accessories. Some options include adding curvy wallpaper, creating an arched doorway or adding some fun and lively piece of furniture such as a curved desk.

It’s the return of the 60s and 70s in our living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens.  This could mean retro wallpaper, according to Hovia, or adding a statement object such as a sofa, or an adorned cupboard paired with soft colors and sleek curves.

Adding character to a room without making it tacky might be tricky, and that’s where marble comes to rescue, say the Hovia trend experts. “An unexpected texture which is still elegant and smooth, marble will catch the eye without being too loud.” It also recommends mixing together different textures and materials.

Indoor gardening, plants and more earthy pieces can make a living room feel like the outdoors. This 2023 trend is expected to get more and more popular, according to these experts.
