NEW YORK – Luxury online marketplace 1stdibs is holding a limited-time auction that starts next week and focuses on Italian Design.
The auction includes furniture, art, design objects, jewelry and fashion including goods by designers such as Gucci, Gio Ponti and others.
With Venice’s Carneval and Milan Fashion Week just around the corner, Italy continues to be a top travel destination for people across the globe, according to 1stDibs. This auction allows bidders to connect with the region through design.
The website said that with many starting bids expected to come in at a fraction of the original listing prices, this auction provides an opportunity for anyone looking for luxury Italian Design.
The auction opens on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and closes on Wednesday, Mar. 1. All offerings will feature a “buy it now” price for those looking to avoid getting outbid and make immediate purchases.
Some items up for auction include a Gio Ponti style Italian wingback sofa in mohair fabric that normally is sold for $7,500 with bidding starting at $2,250.
Another item up for auction is an Italian Travertine dining table that regularly sells for $5,400. Bidding for that item starts at $1,620.
A piece of artwork called Taormina Pool; Estate Edition by Slim Aarons that is valued at $1,320 will also be available with bidding starting at $350.
Founded in 2000, 1stdibs is an e-commerce online marketplace which sells luxury items such as high-end furniture for interior design along with fine art.
