MILAN, ITALY – Due to the global COVID pandemic, the Salone del Mobile furniture and design fair in Milan will now take place June 7-12, 2022.

According to the fair, which was canceled in 2020 and postponed in 2021, the decision to move this year’s edition was due to safety concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The decision to postpone the event will enable exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the entire international furnishing and design community to make the very most of an event that promises to be packed with new things – in total safety,” said Maria Porro, Salone del Mobile Milano president.

As well as celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Salone del Mobile, this year’s event will focus on sustainability – acting as a showcase for the progress made in by creatives, designers and companies, according to Porro.

“Moving the event to June will ensure a strong presence of foreign exhibitors and professionals, which has always been one of the Salone’s strong points,” Porro added.

She added that the extension offers exhibitors time to plan their presence at the fair as thoroughly as possible since the time from concept to final installation can take months of preparation.

The Salone del Mobile was originally scheduled for April 2022.
