HIGH POINT – Bobby Berk, interior designer and reality television persona, launched a new rug collection with Karastan at recent High Point Market.
The collection features a total of 16 rugs, which are separated into three series at three different price points. The opening price points are machine-made polyester rugs, the middle price points are Strandsmart rugs and the higher price points are constructed of hand-woven and hand-tufted wool.
With Berk being well known by a younger demographic, some of whom may have budgeting concerns, it was important to him that he created a collection at affordable price points.
“I chose to work with Karastan because I like to do good and work with those who are also doing good,” said Berk. “I wanted to create beautiful rugs at attainable price points and to span the gamut of modern and traditional.”
With modernized traditional prints, the Bobby Berk collection is centered around desert colors, incorporating reds, oranges, greens and creams. Another goal of Berk’s was to create a collection suitable for layering, a recent rug trend.
“Working with Bobby has just been wonderful,” said Traci Pruitt, vice president of design at Mohawk, a parent company of Karastan. “He brings a modern approach to design for us and has made traditional styles with his own flare, which isn’t easy.”
Retailing for the Bobby Berk Collection ranges from $499 for a machine-made 8×10 to $1,299 for a hand-woven 8×10. To see more on Bobby Berk by Karastan visit Karastan’s website.
