DENVER – Online interior design company Havenly has acquired The Inside, a direct-to-consumer home furnishings brand.

“Our acquisition of The Inside is a significant step in our growth strategy to revolutionize, digitize, and personalize the at-home design experience,” Lee Mayer, Havenly co-founder and CEO, told Home Accents Today. “We’re already a go-to destination for those looking for design, inspiration and home product recommendations, but now we can also offer custom-made products to suit our customers’ wants and needs for a more hands-on design experience.”

Lee said The Inside unlocks access to affordable, made-to-order, customization options for Havenly’s customers that have historically only been available at luxury prices. One of The Inside’s top customer requests is for design services, according to the company, and Havenly designers have been some of The Inside’s largest customers for years.

“The Inside has been developing plans for how to reach a larger audience and one of their biggest requests from customers is for design services,” she added. “Since both The Inside and Havenly are newer brands with a goal of making beautiful design and furniture accessible to all consumers – there were so many synergies that combining the two companies just made sense.”

Under the terms of the deal, Havenly has acquired the key assets of The Inside, inclusive of its intellectual property and inventory. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“For right now, The Inside will continue to exist as it is,” Lee said. “The transition to The Inside by Havenly will feel fairly seamless. Customers will still be able to get product that they love, in the way that they’ve been used to. But we plan to continue to expand on the company’s fantastic vision. At Havenly, we have access to tons of data on what people like and want. We will use that information to try to inform our product strategy moving forward.”

Lee said that acquiring The Inside comes as a natural extension of Havenly’s mission to make home design an accessible and personalized experience for everyone by bringing affordable custom furniture and home décor to customers.

This acquisition comes on the heels of Havenly’s exclusive multi-year partnership with Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club and the acquisition of a cross-platform room layout and 3D visualization technology from Occipital, a leader in spatial computing.

Together, Lee said these acquisitions and partnerships fit with the company’s larger strategy of leveraging technology and innovation to deliver a best-in-class product experience that makes bespoke, personalized interior design accessible to everyone.

For The Inside, Havenly’s nationwide scale and expertise open significant scale to The Inside’s customized fabrics, furniture, and decor.

All current employees of The Inside will accompany company co-founder Danielle Walish as she joins Havenly to manage the transition and integrate The Inside’s assets into Havenly.
